Third Committee – Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues

Delegates in the General Assembly’s Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues) will debate issues regarding current humanitarian crises occurring around the world. With the first topic being centered around the Venezuelan refugee crisis, delegates will need to consider the increasing concerns of the refugees and the humanitarian aid required. Delegates will also be encouraged to discuss alleged human rights concerns regarding the actions of the sitting Venezuelan government. In the second topic the delegates will be discussing the ongoing Yemeni civil war and the resulting humanitarian issues surrounding the events. With this crisis being among the worst humanitarian crisis in the past decade delegates will need to come to a conclusion of means of delivering humanitarian aid without further escalating matters. Delegates are also encouraged to discuss the alleged human rights violations by the governing body and all other parties involved.
